PREREQUISITE TO ATTEND THIS TRAINING
It is expected that you have familiarity with the different parts of WRAP through completion of (16 CEU) which must be conducted by WRAP Facilitators.
SEMINAR 2 DESCRIPTION
This 3-day WRAP Facilitator Training is appropriate for anyone who would like to lead WRAP groups, work with others to develop their own WRAP and give presentations on mental health recovery related issues to groups or organizations. Through learning to implement the evidence-based practices and methods, WRAP Facilitators create an empowering learning environment to support people to make sustained changes in their lives toward wellness. This manualized, non-scripted program is based on years of research experience and the new edition has been reviewed and approved by one of WRAP’s originators and the original author of the Facilitator Training Manual: Mental Health Recovery Including Wellness Recovery Action Plan Curriculum, by Mary Ellen Copeland, PhD.
The WRAP Facilitator training provides an experiential learning environment based on mutuality. Attendees are expected to have a solid working knowledge of WRAP and share their experiential knowledge of how WRAP can work. Participants in this course will be expected to participate in interactive learning activities and demonstrate their own experience with WRAP.
Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) Facilitator Manual, Updated Edition
The manual is the cornerstone of the evidence-based practice of WRAP and the first update since 2012. The manual gives step-by-step instructions for the evidence-based 8-week peer group model of WRAP Seminar I. It also includes agendas for other lengths of time—all totaling 16 hours of facilitation.
This manual presents an approach that is complementary to, but not a replacement for, other behavioral health treatment protocols. The order of WRAP never changes, but session timelines, activities, and recovery topics can be easily adapted to meet differing participant and organizational needs. As a reminder, participation in WRAP should always be voluntary, and it is highly recommended that Facilitators attend a Refresher every 2 years to ensure fidelity to the model and topic-specific information (e.g., certifying to facilitate WRAP Seminar I virtually, working with justice-involved populations, working with youth).
Note: Only Certified WRAP Facilitators can purchase and use the manual—proof of certification is required.
Participants completing Seminar 2 will earn 24 CEUs.
